Specialised orthodontist (Switzerland)
The official Swiss title of specialised orthodontist (Fachzahnarzt für Kieferorthopädie [CH]) requires five years of dentistry studies followed by a full-time three- or four-year specialty training programme at a university clinic of dental medicine in Switzerland.
The title specialised orthodontist (Switzerland) refers to an orthodontist who has completed their specialisation in Switzerland. After passing the required exams, orthodontists receive this specialist title from the Swiss Dental Association (SSO) on behalf of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH).
In addition to the official Swiss title of specialised orthodontic dentist, there are many certified dentists in Switzerland who also have a Master of Science in Orthodontics. This degree is done at a university abroad on a part-time basis (45 days with 10 course hours of 40 minutes each, over the course of 5 semesters).
