Retainers
After misaligned teeth have been moved into the correct position, a retention phase always follows. During this phase, the jaw and teeth are stabilised in their new position, as they tend to shift back into their original misaligned position. This can be prevented by wearing a fine wire that is bonded to the back surface of the anterior teeth (retainer) and/or removable braces.
